Tiddlywinks Playroom 2-2 and a half
Tiddlywinks Room
In the Tiddlywinks Playroom we care for children aged 2 to 2 and a half years old. There is 1 member of staff in this room and we have a maximum of 4 children at any one time. Our ratio is 1:5 This room is a bright, cheerful room with lots of challenging resources to stimulate the children.
We decided to create a 2-2 1/2 room as we felt that for the unders 2's it is very much free play where as in the 2 1/2 - 5 room (formally the 2-5 room) it is more structured and it was a dramatic change for the children. So we thought it was best for the children to have a middle room where they can have time to adjust to more structure and this prepares them for the next room. The tiddlywinks room is like a miniature version of our Busy Buddies room so it is a nice introduction to more structure in their day at nursery.
