Our New Room
We have decided to change the layout of the nursery and as July we will no longer be a 0-2 room and a 2-5 room. We will now have a 0-2 room , a 2-2 1/2 room and a 2 1/2-5 room. We thought about it for some time and felt a middle room is in the best interests of the children and gives them time to prepare for the older room. Photographs will shortly be added to the site.
Special Offers
We will now be offering special offers throughout the year. Our first offer starts in July and we are offering 10% off your fees for the first 6 weeks when you take a place with us. For more details give us a call on 0141 848 7600 asking for Karen
Spaces
We currently have spaces in our baby room for children aged 6 weeks to 2 years. For more information please call Karen on 0141 848 7600.
Summer Trip
This summer trip was fantastic and it was nice to see so many parents coming along. The children had a great time at The Heads of Ayr Farm Park and there was so much for them to do. We are hoping to have some photos uploaded soon !
Babysitting Service
We provide a babysitting service for parents at our nursery at a cost of £6 per hour. Should you wish to use this service please speak to Karen.
Policy of the month - July
Every month we will be posting one of our policies on the site so parents can see the different policies we have in place. Policies are also available in the nursery for parents to view at any time.
Administration of Medication Policy
Glencoats Lodge Nursery places the child's well-being at the very core of the ethos of the setting. It is not a compulsory part of the staff's job to administer medicine, and we respect the agreement and decision made by each individual member of staff. There will, however, always be staff wiling to administer medicine on site.
Glencoats Lodge Nursery will only administer medication to a child if the relevant paperwork has been filled out by the parent/carer.
The medication will be filled in on the medication form which will include the following details
- Name of child
- Name of medication
- Dosage to be given
- Time and date to be administered.
- Reason for medication
- Time last administered
The staff sign this sheet when medication has been administered and record the time. When the child is collected this information is relayed to the parent and they then sign the form again to say they have been informed.
Parents will also complete a medicine permission form at the time of registering their child, stating that they allow staff to administer medicine should this be required. This will be kept in the child's file.
Only medication which has been prescribed by a doctor will be administered. It must be a current prescription and the dosage must be stated on the label. The label must clearly show the child's name and medicine must be in the original container. The first dose of their medication should be given at home incase there are any adverse reactions. Medicine will be returned to parents at the end of each day.
Any medicines that are prescribed on a long term prescription will only be used in the nursery for 3 months after the date of issue.
No temporary staff, students or volunteers are allowed to administer medication.
No medicine should be kept in the children's bags at any time. Any medication to be administered should be given to a member of staff who will store it in the medicine fridge in the office.
If the child spits out or refuses the medicine we would try to encourage them to take it and if they continued to refuse we would contact the parent for further instruction.
If too much medicine is given we will inform the parents immediately and will seek medical advice and medical help if required..
If the medication is given to the wrong child we would contact the child's parents and seek medical advice and medical help if required.
