Glencoats Lodge Nursery

In the Busy Buddies room we care for children aged 2-5 years old. There are 3 staff in this room and we have a maximum of 13 children at any one time. Our ratio is 1:5 for the 2 year olds and 1:8 for the 3-5 year olds. This room is the central room of the nursery, where children enjoy a wide range of learning experiences.

Our second room for the big room is called The Messy Room. This is where all the messy activities take place such as painting, gluing, water play, sand play, glupe and many other fun activities. These activities let children enhances their senses, express their creativity and had fun.

In this room we follow the Birth to three curriculum for the 2 year olds and the Curriculum for Excellence for the 3-5 year olds. The Curriculum for Excellence is the curriculum that children follow from the age of 3 until 18.

The Curriculum for Excellence focus's on the following areas:

- Expressive arts
- Language and Literacy
- Health and Wellbeing
- Mathematics and Numeracy
- Religious and Moral education
- Sciences
- Social Studies
- Technologies

The curriculum aims for the child to develop into a successful learner, confident individual, responsible citizen and an effective contributor.
